Pakistani drama industry is booming every single day. And, the public is giving a cheerful response to it. After that Indian inspired era of the drama industry, our writers changed their tone towards originality. The drama scripts evolved into quality one, having culture-friendly tone and quality topics, the story revolves around.
Currently, we have a stable drama industry, although still our ‘strong scripts’ is comprised of a few repeated weak topics. We feel they should be eliminated.
Aurat ka Chakkar
Though we have strong dramas stories highlighting important social issues, on the other side we have plenty of dramas love to objectifying women in different roles. Be it mother, daughter, sister, wife, or lover. The gender is sketched on a stereotypical basis either positive or negative. The other important issues include women blaming, character shaming, and severe victimization. This leads towards the emotional and mental upsetting of the public mindset.
Shouldn’t this culture be stopped in 2020, at least? Although there’s more in the personality of women than to be objectified
Saas Bahu, Internal Politics
Unluckily, we have a big number of daily soaps revolving around ‘Saas-Bahu’, ‘Nand Bhabhi’, and ‘Devrani Jethani’ conflicts. Or, somebody wants to make a situation sour between couples. Well, practically there’s something more than this in married life that also needs to be displayed. The thing that we want to say is these issues are normal life dealing that doesn’t need to be dragged emotionally.
Ghareeb Beti Ka Baap
Another upsetting trauma to highlight or to prevail in society is ‘Beti ka Ghareeb Baap.’ On one side the industry is working on the concept of women empowerment and strength. The other side is offensive. Our writers and production houses should understand being a father is wonderful, no matter if it’s for the son or for the daughter.
What are other elements you think, drama industry should omit?
